Cold, wet, winters days can leave us exhausted and dreary. Vitalise your body and give yourself energy with great, nourishing food choices.

Winter can leave us with low energy, pushing our self through the day, feeling heavy and bloated.
You may be waking through the night, with no real reason, or spending all day on the couch feeling unmotivated. These days are normal but can be draining and leave your body without adequate nutrients and movement. Many peple can blame feeling these emotions on the weather but that might not be the real reason on why you are feeling this way. Most commonly you will experience these feelings because you are not supplying your body with enough raw enzyme rich foods.
When eating food close to nature we are provided with a majority of our nutritional needs as well as enzymes our body needs for energy production.
Have you ever thought about eating food as close to nature for a day?
Some people call it plant based eating, others may call it whole food or clean eating.
Why not prepare for a 'Wellness Wednesday of Natures eating' this week?
The goal for this type of eating is to break up your current eating habits and bring in some foods closer to nature. Foods to include are fresh salads with a rainbow of raw vegetables added, fruit salads with raw nuts and sesame seeds on top for added protein. They also include whole oats soaked overnight with chamomile tea and fresh grated pear on top, and raw nuts and seeds. If you find yourself craving a salty taste try olives or fresh herbs, and when you need something heavier or more filling you can halve an avocado and add lemon, oregano and sliced tomato and cucumber on top.
Most importantly, when preparing these foods stop and enjoy the process. Experience the smells, immerse yourself in the colors. How do they make you feel? Can you taste the herbs you have added? Spring time, is about new growth. Our diet will need to contain a lot more energy rich fresh foods with lower fat so now is a great time to start the change.
You may also want to try Black rice, legume and beans that you need to soak overnight then cook. Dressings with added Un-Hulled Tahini, lemon and coriander seeds.
Let this be a day of the week you will focus on Nature and what it provides as a whole form.
With fluid intake try to find some fresh mint, rosemary or lemon that you can slice and add to your boiled water. Enjoy the flavour and smell and way it cleanses your body.
